According to the Westlands residents, a large number of people selected for the job were in fact from Eastlands. The youth who stormed the census enumerator training center in Kihumbuini Primary School demanded answers for the unjust selection process. The Westlands member of parliament eventually intervened and put an end to the training until the register was audited.

Barely a week ago, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) was taken to court by five residents from Homabay county who accused the bureau of not adhering to the principles of hiring people. According to the five, KNBS went ahead to hire people who had not even gone through the entire application process and who were actually public servants.
