The chairman of Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been arrested by officials of Department of State Services (DSS) on the orders of the country’s Attorney-General.

Ibrahim Magu, who is in acting position was arrested today Monday and detained by the national security agency and is currently being interrogated at the DSS headquarters in the country’s capital, Abuja.

According to unconfirmed reports, the EFCC boss was arrested over allegations he was diverting some of the funds recovered from suspected looters by the commission.

It was gathered that the DSS operatives had a difficult time arresting Ibrahim Magu as his security personnel gave a strong resistance during the arrest of their boss.

Ibrahim Magu’s arrest comes just a few weeks after the country’s Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami, wrote a letter to President Buhari demanding Magu’s removal.

He accused the EFCC boss of gross corruption raging from diversion of recovered loot to insubordination and misconduct.
