Death Sentences Upheld For Somali Rapists
An appeal court has upheld the death sentence for three men convicted of the brutal gang-rape and subsequent murder of a twelve year old girl. the victim, Aisha Aden was abducted from her home, raped and killed in Puntland in the evening of February 24.
The crime went viral sparking national anger amidst series of demonstrations. Ten suspects were put before court but at the end of the trial three were found guilty.
They proceeded to appeal their sentences but that has been upheld by the court which is the final stop for appeal cases. Their execution will be done through firing squad in the coming weeks.
