Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari has reappointed himself as the Minister for Petroleum. He held the post in his first term of office and has decided to still keep it. This was made known when he swore in his 43 ministers into office.
Oil is Nigeria’s largest export earner. Previous ministers put in charge of its ministry have been accused of diverting huge sums of money. Thus Buhari, who campaigned on an anti-corruption drive sees to its management decisions. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu has been reappointed as a minister of state at the ministry.
