Court Auctions MP’s Properties To Pay Judgement Debt
Court officials have placed auction notice to some properties of former Salaga South NDC’s parliamentarian, Ibrahim Dey Abubakar. This is in pursuit of executing the GHC1.5m judgement debt he owes Baba Kamara, the National Security advisor in the erstwhile Mahama government.
The defendant was sued in 2017 after he made corruption allegations against the complainant. He alluded Baba Kamara inflated the cost of the Vice Presidential Villa and also diverted funds meant for projects in Salaga.
The court ruled in favour of the complainant in April this year and awarded him the judgement debt. However, the defendant told the court he was currently unemployed and thus cannot pay the money. This caused the court to order his properties to be sold to get the complainant’s petition finalised.
