Beware: Busy Thika Super Highway Will Close on Saturday and Sunday

Thika Superhighway at Allsopps area will be closed on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September. The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced the news of the closure on Wednesday. The closure will facilitate the installation of the overpass concrete beams on the ongoing construction of the Outer Ring overpass. Owing to this, motorists heading to the Nairobi city center will be required to use the service lanes as directed by traffic marshals.

The KURA Acting Director General Silas Kinoti made a public statement saying “Thika Superhighway at Allsopps (Outer Ring Road Junction) will be closed on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September, 2019 in order to install beams on the ongoing construction of the Outer Ring overpass. ”

Next weekend, a similar traffic disruption can be expected. This is because the remaining section of the outbound expressway will be closed. On both weekends, the closure will start from 6 am and end at 6 pm. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to reduce congestion on the roads.
