This is How You’ll Get That Raise Before December 2019

If you are reading this, we maybe have one thing in common. We suffer from a common fear when facing the prospect of asking for a raise or promotion. The fear of being fired or worse.

Among the list of constraints to the bold decision are thoughts like “They’ll fire me, they’ll think I’m greedy or, worse, delusional. I’ll never be invited to lunch again. Some people even claim to be afraid that if they successfully negotiate a promotion or raise, they’ll get what they ask for. This group of people think everyone will finally know they’ve been faking their status for years. I really don’t understand that but to each, their own.

So, when asking for that much deserved raise, start your negotiation plan by treating these fears as normal. like a right of passage that gives you anxiety. Treat it like a wedding actually; you’ll be nervous but you’ll still go through with it and probably be happy that you did. In short, the storm of doubt will pass. This said, it is critical to focus on building your internal confidence first. After that, ask for your raise. Even if you don’t get it, use that opportunity to highlight your achievements and stand out for future consideration. Either way, go for that corner office.
