Speaking with the TRA team at their stand during a tourism expo in Shinyanga, the star put TRA on the spot. He claimed that he was asked to pay an arm and a leg to plaster Wasafi Festival posters across Iringa town. The singer openly revealed he refused to pay the tax as he felt he was being robbed in broad daylight.

Diamond demanded to know why the government has been trying to oppress Wasafi despite the company duly paying its annual taxes and abiding by all the laws on operating an entity.”For instance, Wasafi Limited usually pay its taxes at the end of every financial year. Among the things we do and pay for include the Wasafi Festivals. It is not fair for us to pay the required 18 per cent tax at the end of every year and still pay taxes at the end of every show organised by Wasafi,” he said.

TRA officers diffused the situation by advising  Diamond to always preserve all the receipt and tax documents. This is on order to present documents to the TRA staff whenever they come knocking demanding more than the annual 18 per cent.
