I Used To Think Sarkodie Couldn’t Speak English- Joey B
The way Ghanaians in general draw certain conclusion and perception about music artistes based on the genre of music or style is a very stark curiosity.
Popular Ghanaian hip-hop recording artist, Joey B has said that he used to think celebrated BET Hip-hop award winner, Sarkodie couldn’t speak English.
And why is that? Joey B said he thought so because of the genre of music Sarkodie used to sing; kasahare or Twi-pop. Kasahare, translated from the Akan language- Twi, simply means rap, that is ‘to speak in a fast pace’.
Twi-pop follows a similar rhythm and style as hip-hop except that it is mainly sang in Twi. Because of this Joey B claims he genuinely thought Sarkodie couldn’t read English or understand it.
He made this revelation in a tweet which has so far got about 1,3000 likes at press time.
