If you’re arriving on a boat to Les Anses D’arlet, the first thing you’ll probably spot from afar is the church pike of the Eglise Catholique Saint-Henri which stands eyeball to eyeball with the long, wooden pier which tethers the bubbly Atlantic ocean to the quaint city of Les Anses D’arlet. Not forgetting the liquid-green, rolling mountains which encircles the radiant city.

What strikes the eye is the motley splash of rainbow colours which enshrouds Les Anses D’arlet, a peaceful commune situated south of Martinique, an overseas region of France on the Caribbean.

Creole houses in Les Anses D’arlet are painted in a kaleidoscopic array of colours ranging from glorious shades of oranges, reds, to blues. On a sunny day, several boats dock on the shore, creating white dots on the turquoise sea, like puffy clouds in a blue sky.

The official language spoken in the city is French; Creole being the second most spoken dialect, the impact of a multicultural society. Cuisines in the city consists of Lambis – a large sea snail which can be cooked in several manners, Accra – a popular type of fritter, Boudin – a local sausage, Blanc Manger au Coco – a milky dessert, Dorade Grilee, and many more mouth-watering dishes. Fruits and vegetables are also in abundance.

Festivals on the islands are celebrated with a great deal of fuss; Vaval being the biggest carnival of the year. It features four days of parades, masquerades, music, dance, talent shows, and so much more avid display of cultural prominence.

Hosting a population of more than 3,737 citizens, the commune features a cluster of villages which are trussed to Les Anses D’arlet by winding roads with scenic views of the ocean below.

The mayor, Eugene Larcher, is the first Martinique leader to sign a convention of twinning cities with an African city, Benin in West Africa to be precise. He is fervently promoting Africa in the city and beyond.

Moreover, Les Anses D’arlet is quite the catch for tourists who flock to the island to scuba dive, snorkel in the warm water, and visit the numerous site attractions.

If you’re searching for the perfect place to honeymoon or vacation, look no further than the picturesque city of Les Anses D’arlet where the sun never strays from.
