A video of a little girl dancing Zanku has gone viral on social media. Twitter users have described the girl as ‘baby marlian’.

The Zanku dance itself is steadily taking over as the main afrobeats dance move. Any fan of afrobeats dance is probably familiar with this increasingly popular dance move.

As with the origin of the name ‘zanku’, it is uncertain but the dance itself works best in beats combining repeated foot tapping or pounding, with hands held aloft, and finished with a kick of of one foot as if to knock down a door.

Variations include a faster footwork, mimicry of slicing and screwing hand motions and the brandishing of a handkerchief, all of which is done with vigor and attitude.

And that is exactly what the little girl did. Twitter users couldn’t help but applaud the ‘baby marlian’s’ dance moves.
