Times are hard. Economic hardship is real and more so, a stark reality for many young people in Africa and parts of the developing worlds.
The youth are struggling to find decent jobs to do. And those who even find work are not being paid well to sustain them. Cost of living is high and so the little money earned is simply not enough.
In the face of economic hardship and financial difficulties that the youth of today face, it is not surprising that crime rates are on the increase.
Simply because these young people must survive and they think the only way is commit robberies or other forms of crime just to make ends meet.
But of course, crime is not the answer to the growing economic hardships the many young people are facing. And celebrated Nigerian actor, Yul Edochie shares in this opinion as he pleaded with young people not to engage in crime.
According to him, there shouldn’t be an excuse for the youth to engage in criminal activities. For him, they should rather find legitimate business endeavors to engage in- which he believes will earn them some income.
Most importantly Yul Edochie advised that no matter how small their hustle, the youth should stick to it- they will be successful if they do it diligently.
Yul said these in a social media post on twitter. His post reads as follows:
“No matter how broke you are don’t do crime, youths pls do not do crime. Find a legitimate hustle, however small it is, stick to it. There is no excuse for crime.”
