I Began As A Rapper But I Sucked At It So I Switched To Soul Music – Asa Reveals

Bukola Elemide, Nigerian songbird better known as Asa, has divulges that she did not begin her successful music career as a soul singer but started out as a rapper.

According to the multiple award winning artist, she made a quick switch to singing when she realized she sucked at delivering punchlines.

“People who knew me, in the beginning, would remember that I started out as a rapper. But I know that I sucked. So, I just humbled myself and stuck to where God really put me,” she said.

Asa further stated that although she does singing now, her love for rap music still lingers like a bad dream.

“But I love rap music. You know I listen to Drake 2 Chains. Even TI, I love what he’s done. You know, his community. I like G-Eazy. I love Cardi B also, she cool.”
