News: Ghana Records 2 Suspected Cases Of Coronavirus

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, 5 February 2020 quarantined two foreign nationals who were suspected to have shown symptoms of coronavirus.

Reports circulating indicate the two persons (a Chinese and an Argentine) were referred to Korle Bu from a clinic and are currently isolated undergoing series of tests at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).

Dr William Baah, Greater Accra Divisional Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association, disclosed to Joy News that the Chinese touchdown in Ghana sometime in 2019 and the Argentine, who visited Shanghai, came to Ghana in January 2020.

He however told the press not to panic since the virus has not been totally confirmed adding that further tests will be conducted today.

“They’ve all developed some symptoms that fit the case definition [but] it doesn’t mean they have the disease.”

The case of Coronavirus has been tagged as a world treat and has recorded over 560 deaths in China and two deaths outside China.
