The village located on Java Island has jumped on an old superstition to use ghosts known as ‘Pocong’ to enforce the lockdown and deter people from coming out.

Head of a village youth group, Anjar Pancaningtyas, coordinated with the police on the unconventional initiative to promote social distancing as the coronavirus spreads “We wanted to be different and create a deterrent effect because ‘pocong’ are spooky and scary.”
