Government Shuts Down MTN Office In Dansoman For Flouting Social Distancing Rules

The Minister of Communication, Hon. Ursula Owusu has revealed that the Dansoman Zodiac branch of one the mobile telecommunication giants in Africa, MTN, has been shut down.

According to the Minister, the decision to stop the office from operating was due to the fact that their customers were in violation of the social distancing rules.
If you recall, since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the government of Ghana has put several measures in place to curb the spread of the virus.

Recently, after lifting the ban on the lockdown in some parts of the country, the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, announced however that the ban on social gathering is still in force.
In that regard, citizens were obliged to adhere to social distancing protocols in their daily activities as well as mandatory wearing of nose masks.
Sharing a picture of customers of MTN who had queued to be served at the Dansoman Zodiac branch, Hon. Ursula Owusu intimated that social distancing rules were not being observed.
She thus disclosed that the office will be closed until they make arrangements to ensure that this is enforced.
The honorable minister said in Facebook post that: This is the scene at the MTN office at Dansoman Zodiac right now. Absolutely no respect for social distancing.
They have been shut down and will not be allowed to operate till they have better arrangements in place. Reputable corporate organization like this should not be flouting the law and creating conditions for the virus to spread.
