British-Nigerian Rapper, Ty Dies From Coronavirus

The British music industry has lost a talented rapper in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Ben Chijioke, 47, known professionally as Ty succumbed to the infectious disease on Thursday.

The versatile rapper who was of Nigerian descent was nominated for Mercury prize for his album, Upwards.

He was admitted on early April after contracting the coronavirus disease. Few days later he was placed under a medically-induced coma.

He later contracted pneumonia at the ward which worsened his condition culminating in his death yesterday.

A fundraiser launched in his name explained that his conditioned improved and was moved out of the intensive care.

Born in London to Nigerian immigrants, Ty broke into the music scene with his 2001 album Awkward.

He went further to produce five albums which was commercially a success and projected him to a much bigger audience.

Many colleague musicians and fans have shared their heart breaking tributes to the rapper.
