Man Disowns Daughter After She Expressed Interest In His Political Office

A Ugandan politician has disowned his own daughter and cut her off from his family after she expressed her desire to contest the political office he was currently occupying.

Godfrey Kimera, the chairperson of Kasaali Town Council who wants to extend his term in the 2021 elections sees his daughter, Reginah Nakiweewa’s decision to contest him as an act of disrespect.

He averred that pressure on her to vie for different portfolios aside the one he is occupying has been ignored.

Ms Nakiweewa says her father, who is a Democratic Party (DP) member, promised to serve for only two terms when he was elected chairperson in 2011.

At that time, Kasaali was still a sub-county, but was elevated to a town council in July 2017 after Kyotera became a district.

The 30-year-old said she is not intimidated by the threats from her father. Ms Nakiweewa intends to stand on the Justice Forum (JEEMA) ticket in next year’s elections.

She added that she has no personal vendetta against Mr Kimera. He will always be her father. My plan is to unseat that person who has failed to fulfill his promise.
