Afropop Singer, Yemi Alade Signed As Goodwill Ambassador For UN

Nigerian female afropop star, Yemi Alade has been signed by the United Nations as a Goodwill ambassador for one of their flagship programs, United Nations Development Program – UNDP.

Yemi Alade has been one of the few consistent artistes on the African continent and has been one of the few female artistes rubbing shoulders with their male counterparts.

Her signing is yet another endorsement of her talent and influence as she was named by Avance Media among the 100 most influential women in Africa.

The organization took to twitter to welcome the singer to their team. They tweeted: “We’re pleased to welcome Nigerian superstar @yemialadee, as our newest UNDP Goodwill Ambassador! We thank Yemi for being our voice for a green and equitable recovery”.

Yemi Alade on her part also pledged to work diligently with United Nations Development Program – UNDP to help shine the light on the underprivileged in society.

She wrote on Instagram: “It’s an honour to be named UN goodwill ambassador to the UNDP programme, an agency whose core mission completely aligns with mine, to end poverty and to erase all forms of gender inequality.

“Women are among the 4 billion people who are trying to survive COVID-19 without any form of social protection.

“I want to lend my voice to these women and other vulnerable people who make up half of the world that’s struggling to make ends meet. They don’t have the luxury of working from home and are putting their health at risk just to put food on the table”.
