Popular Nigerian author Reno Omokri is at it again with his numerous tweets on life issues and general matters.

The Lawyer this time is speaking against the culture of Africans extolling the dead rather than the living.

In a series of tweets, Reno is advising Africans to change the mentality of neglecting people while they’re alive but spending millions on their funerals when they die.

A befitting burial takes place when family gather and the dead is put in a 6 feet deep grave. You dont even need a coffin. You can bury your loved ones the way Christ was buried-wrapped in a piece of cloth. Africa should invest in life, not death! #FreeLeahSharibu #RenosNuggets

The most befitting burial you can give a parent is a befitting life. If you leave them to wallow in poverty, while you live in plenty, they will be buried in sadness, no matter the cost of the burial you give them. Spend the money on the living!#FreeLeahSharibu #RenosNuggets

Two Year Old Baby Dies From Coronavirus

South Africa has confirmed the death of a two-day-old baby from coronavirus who was born prematurely.

This case which is the youngest victim of coronavirus was born to a mother who had already tested positive to the disease. It is the country’s first neonatal death.

Zweli Mkhize, Minister of Health said the deceased baby had a problem with its lung and required ventilation immediately after birth.

“The mother had tested positive for Covid-19 and the child subsequently tested positive for Covid-19 as well. It is important to appreciate the complexities of the underlying condition of prematurity,” he said on Wednesday.

South Africa, which is the hardest hit country on the African continent reported 27 new deaths bringing the total number of casualties to 339.

Am additional 803 new coronavirus cases were confirmed on last night taking the tally to 18,003 with almost half of them discharged.

Celebrated Nigerian music diva who has been promoting traditional African scenes in her music videos, Yemi Alade has something worthwhile to say about the state of Africa.

According to the Shekele crooner, in Africa, the people beg for basic amenities that they are supposed to get for free.

Yemi Alade took to twitter to jab African leaders for making life tough for the citizenry as the masses begs for the basic things leaders are to provide for free.

The ‘woman of steel’ concluded that she prays for leaders to make life comfortable as she is tired of complaining.

Female Genital Mutilation Banned In Sudan

Sudan has abolished female genital mutilation. The procedure involves removing the clitoris and other external genitalia from girls in order to curb sexual exuberance among them.

The law also recommends a three-year incarceration for offenders. The north-east African country is noted for its high prevalence of the procedure. Anti-FGM campaigners have welcomed the news.

About half of African countries over the years have passed legislations against FGM. The procedure has been noted to leave permanent physical and psychological scars on its victims.

Comoros Records First Coronavirus Case

Comoros has confirmed its first case of the coronavirus disease. The east African island nation was one of the only few nations without any case in the pandemic.

President Azali Assoumani explained the 50 year-old patient is a dual national of Comoros and France. He also confirmed contact tracing has been initiated to track down the disease spread.

This development leaves Lesotho as the only African country to have no recorded case of the coronavirus disease. The continent has recorded a total of 37,391 case with about a third recovery rate. The death toll currently stands at 1,598.

Africa remains the continent less hit by the Covid-19 pandemic
