Famous Nigerian clergyman, Prophet Samuel Abiara, has sent a stern warning to politicians and government workers in the country against stealing COVID-19 funds.

The clergyman of the Christ Apostolic Church said the families of such thieves will be followed by generational curses.

He made this public in a statement to appreciate the government for reopening worship centers, released on Monday, August 10.

Parts of his statement reads, “For those who are in charge of the donation of money, food items, etc, God said you must not steal anything from the money, food and all items donated for COVID-19 for yourself. If you do that, curses of the pandemic will be in the family of those who do this,”

Peter O’Neill, former Papua New Guinea Pime Minister, has been arrested by the police over an alleged $14 million purchase of generators from Israel without approval.

O’neil was arrested at the Port Moresby airport on Saturday after returning from Australia. He is currently being interrogated in police custody, the assistant crimes commissioner said in a statement.

In the statement, the former prime minister was accused of directing a 50m Kina ($14m) payment for two generators from Israel without parliamentary approval, without following the country’s public financial management law and without putting the sale to tender.

It further stated evidence of abuse of office, misappropriation and official corruption although it did not give detailed information about the generators or identity of the seller.

The former Prime Minister has however blamed the purchase of the generator on the current Prime minister, James Marape.

On Sunday, O’Neil said the generators were bought to fix “long standing”blackouts in Port Moresby and Lae and Marape, then finance minister, authorized the exemption from proper procurement processes and approving the non-tender contract.

Brown Ideye, an ex Super Eagles striker has vowed to reveal the rot and deep corruption in the Nigerian football federation.

This comes barely a week after former Super Eagles forward Chinedu Obasi publicly claimed that his refusal to pay bribe was a major factor why he was eliminated from the 2014 FIFA World Cup list.

Ideye, who was also ommitted from the 2014 FIFA World Cup squad, disclosed that he will one day write a whole book sharing to the world the rot in Nigerian football.

He said in an Instagram live interview with sports journalist Oma Akatugba that there is an entire system on how players were selected for the World Cup.

“We all know that there is a lot of corruption in our football. But, there is a limit you can go when it comes to corruption and bribery.

“So many things didn’t add up at the time. I was asking myself if I did something wrong or there was something I didn’t do. Before I retire, I will write a book and pour everything out. Not going to that World Cup, God used Keshi to sideline me for the West Bromich Albion job.

“I haven’t told anyone what really transpired, only my spouse knows about the story. It was painful, I felt like saying something but I decided to get hold of myself.”

The locust invasion in Kenya which started in the North Eastern region is now making its way to more and more counties.

It is estimated that if not controlled, the swarms of locusts could grow by 500 times in June leading to famine.

American preacher Rick Wiles from Flowing Streams Church is now claiming that God sent the locusts to punish Kenya.

Speaking on Trunews, Pastor Wiles said that Kenya is one of the most corrupt countries in the world that he has ever visited and is now paying the price.

“I had sent well-drilling rigs to Kenya where they are dying of thirst, and I was trying to dig wells for them to give water to them.

At the port of Mombasa I was told I have to pay a Sh. 8M charity tax. It was sad.” he said.

The preacher shared that the very corrupt among the country are leaders and Christians who even go to church.

According to him, the locusts are meant to bring famine to force people into repentance.

“There are stages of judgement and Kenya has had drought. Now it’s going into famine.

God sends punishments in different ways. I am not surprised that there are locust swarms in Kenya right now.” he spoke.

The pastor also said that the coronavirus in China is a plague to the sinful nation for their “godless communist government that persecutes Christians and demands forced abortions.”

Authorities of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, Kaduna State have fired 16 lecturers over offences involving sexual harassment, negligence of duty and corruption in the institution.

It was gathered that the lecturers were from different departments and faculties in the institution.

A source confirmed the dismissal action adding that the sacking of the lectures was duly approved by the Governing Council of the institution.

The Director of ABU’s Public Affairs, Dr. Sama’ila Shehu, further confirmed the incident but noted that not all those sacked had their ranks reduced were lecturers.

He said: “Not all of them are lecturers but they are ABU staff. They cut across. The total of those affected are 16.

According to him: “Some of the offences range from mishandling of records, scripts, sexual harassment and assault. There are categories of offences and penalties. Some are termination of appointments, dismissal and demotion.”

It was gathered that a lecturer from the department of Plant Science was sacked over sexual harassment of a female staff while three lecturers from the Sociology department were sacked over alteration of results, extortion of students and illegal allocation of grades.

Two staff from Bursary unit were sacked over diversion of money and fraudulent reinstatement of staff on payroll. Similarly, a lecturer in Political Science department was demoted over loss of students’ scripts, the offence that the university defined as “negligence of duty”.

It was also discovered that, the job of many lecturers is on the line, as investigation into their involvement in sexual harassment and other offences is still ongoing.
