Africa’s Confirmed Coronavirus Cases Hit 100,000 With 3,098 Deaths
Africa’s share of the coronavirus cases has crossed the 100,000 tally. This comes more than three months since the continent’s first case was reported in Egypt.
The current number of confirmed cases is 100,399 with the death toll also pegging at 3,098. The total number of recoveries is almost 40,000. Close to 58,000 people are still active cases.

South Africa remains the hardest hit country on the continent with 20,125 cases and 397 deaths. It is followed by Egypt with almost 16.000 cases. Algeria, Morocco and Nigeria follows in that order with all of them recording more than 7,000 cases.
Mauritius is the first African country to recover from the global pandemic. It had recorded 332 cases in total. Ten of these cases lost their lives with the remaining 322 been discharged.
