A U.S. Supreme Court ruling has ordered Sudan to pay a whopping $10b for its complicity in the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

A large chunk of the money woukd be used to compensate victims of the attacks and other American workers and contractors who lost their lives or properties.

Sudan was found culpable of giving logistical and financial support to the Osama bin Laden-led al-Qaeda terrorist group.

The al-Qaeda terrorist group succeeded in launching simultaneous attacks on American embassies in two major cities in East Africa on 7th August 1998.

A total of 224 people, 213 in Nairobi, Kenya and 11 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania lost their lives. More than four thousand people were left injured after trucks loaded with bombs plunged into the buildings.

Sudan has always maintained its innocence but that was not factored in the ruling. The country’s former president Omar al- Bashir had always been suspected of close ties with terrorist groups.

This made the country to be blacklisted by U.S. and its allies and heavy sanctions placed on it. The measure economically affected the north-eastern African country culminating in years of recession and the subsequent overthrow of the government.

Sudan’s new government which came to power after the popular overthrow of the al-Bashir regime has pledged to remove the country from the list of terrorism sponsors.

Sudan has accepted the court’s judgement though it absorb itself from the findings which implicated the country in the terrorist attacks. It said it was working with both Kenya and Tanzania to arrive at a workable compensation for the victims.

The 7 month journey of finding the greatest talent in East Africa is finally over. Talented Ugandan singing duo, Esther and Ezekiel won the East Africa’s Got Talent title.

The duo was announced as the winners after an amazing season finale filmed at Catholic University Auditorium on Sunday. The youngsters went home with a whopping 50,000 U.S dollars.

Esther and Ezekiel aka the Mutesasiras beat their fellow Ugandans – a comedic dance group called DNA and Jehovah Shalom Acappella.

East Africa’s Got Talent (EAGT) is the new it show in East Africa dedicated to finding a spectacularly talented act at the end of several elimination stages. The show started on August 4th and broadcasts simultaneously across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. In the last episode of the show, a 20 year old Kenyan by the name Elizabeth Anyango went on stage to showcase her twerking abilities.

In the fifth episode of the series, 20 year old Elizabeth Anyango from Kenya went on stage to showcase her talent and to the shock of many, her talent to showcase was twerking. As she performed, the judges could not help but express their shock. When Jeff Koinange was asked for a reaction, he could only say his famous words “oh my”. Elizabeth put on an interesting show and the crowd actually liked it however none of the judges felt like her performance was worth proceeding to the next round.

The winner of this season of East Africa’s Got Talent will win a whooping Ksh. 5,000,000.

Information reaching Africacelebrities.com indicates that a top Kenyan musician, John De’ Mathew, has died in a road accident today 18th August 2019.

With over 50 albums to his name, De’Mathew is arguably the most influential artist from Central Kenya judging by his huge and wide fan base and also by the great airplay his songs enjoy on local radio stations.

De’Mathew, whose real name is John Ng’ang’a Mwangi, hails from Gatanga in Murang’a County and was born more than fifty years ago.
