The Supreme Court Of Ghana in a unanimous decision today has ruled out a legal case that was presented before them by the largest opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), and one private person, Mark Takyi-Banson.

According to the Supreme Court in their unanimous decision, the Electoral Commission has the power to compile a new register.

The NDC filed the case in court asking that it to stop the EC from compiling the register or allow the use of the birth certificate and voters ID card by prospective voters as proof of identification.

Per the court’s ruling, the Electoral Commission (EC) is at the liberty to go on with the exercise since it is an independent body and will only be directed by the court if it acts contrary to law.

Self-acclaimed pastor of the NDC, Prophet Kwabena Owusu Agyei, a prophet who recently threatened the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, Ms Jean Mensa, according to a video sighted online has been arrested by CID of the Ghana Police Service.

National attention was drawn on the man acclaimed to be a pastor after a video which was gathered from a live video on a Facebook account called NDC TV on Sunday, June 7, 2020, had Owusu Agyei stating that the EC boss was going to die should she go ahead with the compilation.

Loudmouth Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Hon Kennedy Ohene Agyapong just after having a sight of the video vowed to get the self-acclaimed man of God arrested in an interview on Net2TV.

The ‘good news’ is the self-acclaimed man of God has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department of the GhanaPolice and is in police custody.
