The Edo State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the entire state which takes effect from 4pm today, Monday, October 19.

A statement released today by Osarodion Ogien, Secretary to the State Government, noted that the curfew is to start today at exactly 4pm.

It therefore advised business owners and schools to close before the time to avoid having to deal with security operatives patrolling about.

The statement adds that, the curfew is necessitated by the recent vandalism that characterizes the ongoing protest against SARS and police brutalities. Below is the statement.

“The Edo State Government hereby imposes a 24-hour curfew across the state till further notice.

“The curfew is to take effect from 4pm, today, October 19, 2020.

“This decision has become necessary because of the very disturbing incidents of vandalism and attacks on private individuals and institutions by hoodlums in the guise of #EndSARS protesters.

“While the government of Edo State respects the rights of its citizens to undertake legitimate protests, it cannot sit idly when hoodlums have taken laws into their hands to cause mayhem on innocent citizens and the state.

“By the directive, schools and businesses are to shutdown activities accordingly. Those who cannot move safely are to stay put between now and 4pm till calmness is restored.

“Parents are advised to rein in their children, youths and wards, to forestall further breakdown of law and order.

“The responsibility of government is to protect lives and property and maintain law and order, therefore, anyone found outside in violation of the curfew would be dealt with according to the law.”

Reports AfricaCelebrities.Com is getting says Mrs. Queen Igbinevbo, a pregnant wife of Comrade Promise Igbinevbo, was raped and murdered in their home in Benin by some unknown men.

A source revealed that the attackers pretended to come looking for Comrade Promise, who is a Governor Campaign Coordinator but met the wife alone in the house.

They then barged into the house through foul means and proceeded to rape and murder his wife. The Incident is said to have occurred on May 20,2020.

The source disclosed to LIB that they became concerned after Mrs. Queen was not seen in the neighborhood for a while. They went to her house only to find her lifeless body naked on the floor with foam coming from her mouth and seamen over her body.

On Friday June 5, resident s in Benin launched a demonstration, marching to the Edo State Police Command to demand justice for the deceased.

It is reported that three suspects have been arrested in connection to the rape and murder of Mrs. Queen Igbinevbo and is currently under investigation.

It is unfortunate and sad that with all the education going on in most countries where this menace is commonly found, to stop these acts, some young people are still adamant and looking for a quicker way to make money.

The young ones should be advised to be wary of any short cut to wealth since none exist. The campaign against money ritual must be intensified.
