Nigerian twitter community has showered praises on the Catholic church for donating its 425 hospitals across the country to be used as isolation centers for Coronavirus patients.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, announced on Monday evening that the Catholic church offered all its hospitals and clinics to the government.

“As part of efforts to support the states in the establishment of the isolation and treatment centres, I wish to remind our governors that the Catholic Bishops Conference has volunteered all the 425 hospitals and clinics nationwide for adaptation and use as isolation centres,” Governors are encouraged to please approach Catholic Bishops in their states to access these facilities,” a statement from the church read.

The selfless act has earned the Catholic church admiration on twitter with many hoping other churches follow suit.

Gladys Rodriguez Duarte, a woman in Paraguay experience the nightmare of her life when she woke up in a body bag at a funeral home ready for burial.

Gladys, an ovarian cancer Patient was rushed to the San Fernando Clinic in Coronel Oviedo on Saturday morning when her blood pressure shot off the roof.

Dr Heriberto Vera checked admitted Gladys to the hospital at 9:30am and declared her dead at 11:20am the same morning, according to a police report.

According to reports given by the Paraguay National Police, Gladys was confirmed dead. The cause of her death revealed as cervical cancer.

Her body was handed over to personnel from the Duarte and Sons Funeral to prepare for burial but they met a shock of their lives.

The supposed dead body of Gladys Rodriguez began to move in the body bag when she was left at the funeral home for some hours.

The 50-year old mother is currently under observation at Paraguay’s Social Welfare Institute Medical Facility.

Current situation at Kawempe General Referral Hospital in Uganda is that patients are abundant to the extent that mothers are now competing to get a place to lay with their newly borns.

“The number of patients keep on increasing mostly due to referrals from lower health facilities”, Health Ministry officials claim.

They also state that healthcare centres provide comprehensive emergency obstetric care, including Caesarean sections, blood transfusions and anaesthesia, but because most of these clinics across the country do not have adequate capacity in terms of hospital personnel and supplies, people are referred to the General hospital for better treatment, thereby causing an increase in population, which doesn’t bode well for pregnant women who are due.

The post-natal ward where mothers are supposed to be referred six hours after normal delivery is only equipped with a few mattresses, thereby most mothers who are unfortunate not to get a bed lie on the bare floor with their newborns, which exposes the babies to pneumonia and other infections that can lead to death.
