Hushpuppi, although being the main target in all the issues, refused to utter a word till now and his comment has left many wishing him well and beseeching God on his behalf.

On one of his numerous Instagram accounts, Hushpuppi admitted that he has made a mistake and went on his knees begging God for a second chance.

Many found his words too soft to be from him and another account with the same name also shared a message contradicting the above post.

Commissioner of Police (CP) INTERPOL in Nigeria, Garba Umar, has confirmed the arrest of Instagram billionaire Raymond Igbalode a.k.a. Hushpuppi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The International Police (INTERPOL) Nigeria told The Nation that Hushpuppi and his associates may be extradited to Nigeria.

CP Umar said, “It is true that Hushpuppi was arrested by the INTERPOL. We are currently working on bringing him to Nigeria to face charges of fraud. Some of the offences were committed here in Nigeria and he has to answer for them. He is not alone in it; there are accomplices in the country who we are currently on their trail”.

On June 10th, Hushpuppi and two of his associates, Mr Woodberry and Efe, were arrested for allegedly hacking into the United States (US) unemployed database and impersonating citizens qualified for unemployment funds.

It is reported that they allegedly defrauded the US government of over $100 million meant for Native Americans in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

EFCC has shared a few photos of billionaire big boy Mompha who is in their custody, and three expensive wristwatches which they have retrieved from him. In the photos, Mompha looked haggard in a black Fendi T-shirt, yet wore a lopsided smile.

They disclosed this development on Twitter ;

“The EFCC, Lagos office, has arrested a renowned Social Media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha popularly known as Mompha for an alleged involvement in internet related fraud and money laundering.

The suspect, a premium and first class customer of one of the popular international airlines, was arrested on Friday 18, October 2019 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on his way to Dubai Emirate following series of intelligence reports received by the Commission.“

According to the EFCC operatives, “actionable cross border intelligence received from collaborative law enforcement agencies about his alleged involvement in the criminal activities further strengthened our suspicion,”

Ismaila who allegedly perpetrates his fraudulent activities under the guise of being a Bureau de Change operator is always seen with his little son flaunting huge amount of foreign currencies on his social medial platforms.

Investigations have also revealed that Ismaila is only using the BDC business, he jointly owned with his siblings, as a decoy to launder his proceeds of crime.“

According to IG blogger, Cutiejuls, Nigerian socialite Mompha’s arrest was aided by some staff of the hotel he slept in Abuja.

She stated that tips have it that he was arrested in his hotel [Name Withheld] room 128 in the middle of the night on Friday, 18/10/2019. Mompha reportedly booked 2 rooms upon his arrival at the hotel. 125 for himself and 128 for his supposed guest who was supposed to be arriving later. Hotel staff noticed he entertained all his guest in 125 but spent his private time in 128 and even slept in 128. One hotel staff who tipped the police of Mompha’s strange activities helped his arrest made easier.

Mompha was on the United Arab Emirates police wanted list for his key involvement of an internet fraud deal of $5million cash which his company account was used in executing the deal.

He sneaked into Nigeria and was supposed to have left for the republic of Benin via road by Sunday evening before his arrest.

Reports says Interpol got hint to his travel to Nigeria and possibility of escaping to another African country via road in the shortest possible time.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that it arrested Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as ‘Mompha.’

EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren told Daily Trust that Mompha was arrested by the top anti-graft agency in Abuja, although he did not give further details. He only revealed that Mompha is in the custody of the EFCC.

Mompha, a social media celeb is often referred to as the king of Nigerian Bureau De Change. There were reports that he fled his base in Dubai to evade arrest from the International Criminal Police Organization, more commonly known as INTERPOL.
