Management of the Imo State University (IMSU) has suspended two lecturers who were fingered in some viral videos involved in a s3x for grades scandal.

The viral video saw one lecturer identified as Emmanuel Agumuo, who was caught naked in a hotel room trying to sleep with one of his students.

Ralph Njoku Obi, Spokesperson for the University, confirmed the new development to the press saying the lecturers were suspended and awaiting decisions from investigations on the viral video which is currently ongoing.

Ralph also added that the lecturers were in police custody in Owerri, the lecturers are reported to be senior lecturers in the Imo State University.

“We just came out of an expanded management meeting now. Management resolved to set up a panel to look into the veracity of the content of the video clips but as it stands now, the two lecturers have been suspended so they can give us ample room to do a proper investigation into the matter.” The spokesperson said.

“It is believed that the trending video clips may have again exposed the ugly underworld of sex-for-grade syndicates operating in the Imo State University, Owerri.”

Former Central Regional chairman of the NDC has been suspended from the party. This is in view of the alleged Bernard Allotey Jacobs’ anti-NDC stance at radio stations.

In a statement signed by national chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, it explained the suspension takes immediate effect pending a disciplinary review for further action.

A Washington post journalist, Felicia Sonmez has been suspended from work after tweeting the story of Kobe Bryant’s rape case hours after his death.

The journalist who covers national politics for Washington post angered many people in mourning after posting her tweet.

The tweet in question was shared far and wide and caused an uproar. Felicia reported that she had received over 10,000 messages including death threats as the tweet went viral.

In the tweet, Felicia linked a 2016 story which had the headline “Kobe Bryant’s Disturbing Rape Case: The DNA Evidence, the Accuser’s Story and the Half-Confession.”

Following the massive attacks she received on twitter. Felicia responded writing “Well that was eye opening.

To the 10,000 people (literally) who have commented and emailed me with abuse and death threats, please take a moment and read the story.

It was written 3+ years ago and not by me. Any public figure is worth remembering in their totality even if that public figure is beloved and that totality unsettling.”

Sonmez later deleted all her tweets after reactions became overwhelming. Several people however had already taken screenshots of the tweets making them a permanent attachment to her name.

The managing editor at Washington post later released a statement on her suspension.

“National political reporter Felicia Sonmez was placed on administrative leave while The Post reviews whether tweets about the death of Kobe Bryant violated The Post newsroom’s social media policy.

The tweets displayed poor judgement that undermines the work of her colleagues,” said Tracy Grant, managing editor.

The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria asked the embattled University of Lagos lecturer, Boniface Igbeneghu, to step down from all ministerial assignments in the local church.

Mr Igbeneghu was exposed in a video clip by BBC Africa where an undercover journalist, Kiki Mordi, disguised as a 17-year-old admission seeker.

The investigation is part of a broader one that uncovers the sex for grade crises in universities in Nigeria and Ghana.

Mr Igbeneghu is a former sub-dean of the Faculty of Art and head pastor of a local Foursquare Gospel Church.

In a part of the 52-minute documentary to be premiered on Monday evening, released on social media, the lecturer started by inviting the ‘student’ for a second meeting where they held prayer session together till he asked her for a kiss and romance.

The church’s National Secretary, Ikechukwu Ugbaju, in a statement made earlier on Monday, described Mr Igbeneghu’s conduct as “heinous and unscriptural act”

“The General public is hereby informed that as a holiness and bible-believing church and we do not condone such heinous and unscriptural act among our ministers.

A US police officer has been suspended after arresting two six-year-olds at a school in Orlando, Florida.

One of the two was handcuffed after throwing a tantrum and kicking a teacher, the girl’s grandmother told US media.

The officer, Dennis Turner, was suspended as officials said he did not secure the necessary permissions to arrest the two.

Prosecutors say they will try to erase the arrests from their records.

Both children were charged with misdemeanor battery. Little about the other arrest – which was in a separate incident – has been made public.

“The children will not be prosecuted, and just as importantly I am looking into options that may reverse the legal damage such as removing the arrest from the children’s records,” said State Attorney Aramis Ayala in a news conference.

Police Chief Orlando Rolón said in a statement: “As a grandparent of three children less than 11-years-old this is very concerning to me. Our department strives to deliver professional and courteous service.”

Neither child has been identified by police, but the grandmother of one of the children said she suffered sleep apnoea which had contributed to her behaviour.
