The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards kicked off Friday night August 28 with the first part of award presented and as expected, the event came with its twists and turns.

The event was strictly by invitation and did not sell tickets to the public. The public joined the fun by watching from the comfort of their homes or streaming online.

Some of the big names that came slaying where Bola Ray, gospel musician Gifty Osei, Okyeame Kwame, Media personality KOD and a host of musicians.

Budding Ghanaian musician, Kofi Mole, has emphatically stated that his Don’t Be Late song must not only be nominated but awarded as the Hip Hop song of the year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

He boldly said he sees no song that has been able to achieve great feats like his song.

Kofi Mole explained that under the year of review, his song has been able to top charts on international platforms for months something no Ghanaian hip hop song did.

“Hands down, ‘Don’t Be Late’ has to win Hip-Hop song of the Year in the upcoming VGMAs. No other hip-hop song deserves it more than Don’t Be Late”

“No Hip-hop song released in the year under review matches my Don’t Be Late song. Don’t Be Late has topped various chart shows for months, topped iTunes Chart, you name it,” he voiced.

He said this in a conversation with Becky on Joy News.

This year’s VGMAs saw dancehall artists, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale nearly clash with each other.

Thus the organizers of the annual event, Chatterhouse, held a press conference and ordered the two artists to return the plaques they had won that night.

But, Stonebwoy has refused to return his awards, stating that it would be disrespectful to return the plaques. He stated in an interview with Hitzfm today that his fans voted for him,and his image was used to promote the event.

He further enumerated the energy he and his team put up toward the event, claiming that the plaque was not something he would give up.
