Samira Bawumia Poised To Fight Sexual Abuse and Harmful Practices

The 2nd Lady of Ghana, H.E Samira Bawumia, has made her intentions clear to fight against sexual abuse and harmful practices.

Samira launched the Coalition of People Against Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV) & Harmful Practices (CoPASH) through her foundation, the Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Project (SEHP) a year ago.

The goal of CoPASH is to bring together a group of agencies, organizations and individuals who are passionate about the rights of women and girls, to advocate for better resources for SGBV victims throughout the country.

In its one year of existence, CoPASH has empowered many young people to avoid and overcome instances of sexual abuse. And about 100 young girls have been saved from child marriage.

It is expected that CoPASH, through SEHP, will achieve more feats in the coming years.
