Fraud Case Involving 77 Nigerians, Embarrassing -Abike Dabiri (NDC)

Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has described the case of 77 Nigerian suspects involved in massive wire fraud schemes in the United States as embarrassing.

According to PoliticsNigeria, she made her disappointment known on the development when she visited the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday.

She said it’s embarrassing to know that out of the 80 people indicted, 77 are Nigerians which leaves a dent on the image of the country.

She, however, mentioned the stereotype will not be accepted as Nigerians are not criminals. She said it’s only a few that are tarnishing the image of the country and that the authorities will do their best to fish out those people.

She also said until proven guilty, no one can say Nigerians have actually committed these crimes. She mentioned that once it is a court indictment, the suspects would have to go to court and that, they are relying on the US Judicial system for a fair hearing.
