Kenyan Rapper King Kaka Bleeds On Menstrual Walk to Keep Young Girls in School

Popular Kenyan rapper Kennedy Obimba, widely known as King Kaka persevered bleeding during his organized Menstrual walk to provide school girls with sanitary towels all over the country.The initiative which is known as the Menstrual Walk 2019 has seen King Kaka walk from Nairobi to Nakuru – a distance of 150 kilometers from Monday, August 19, 2019 in Nairobi. The noble cause is dubbed ‘Bank On Me Sanitary’ and through the initiative, the rapper plans to keep 100,000 girls in school by providing them with the much needed sanitary towels.

By Thursday afternoon last week, King Kaka was on his way to Gilgil town having covered over 90 kilometers in his first four days. Through social media, he has been keeping his fans updated but the noble walk has clearly taken a toll on him. On top of having swollen feet, the UNICEF Kenya advocate and Remy Martin brand ambassador  has also sustained two injuries, one of which left blood stains on the sock on his right foot. The Menstrual walk culminated with a musical concert held in Nakuru. Kaka Empire Managing Director Dennis Njenga in a statement said “ we have reached about 12,000 girls with the Bank on Me Sanitary Campaign so far and we hope to reach 15,000 more within this year. To join the initiative, visit the website BankOnMe.co.ke or donate on Paybill 894889, Account Number ‘Menstrual Walk.’ Remember that a mere Sh. 600 keeps one girl in school for a whole year.
