Fake Census Officials Gang Rape 48 Year Old Woman

Hours after a census enumerator was raped after leaving a residential area, another census related rape case has been reported and is being dealt with. A 48 year old woman from Homa Bay County was allegedly raped by a gang of men posing as census officials. She is currently nursing her injuries at the Homa Bay County referral hospital.

The victim of the attack reported that on Saturday night,a group of men went to her house in Rang’wa location and asked to enter her house. After suspecting that the men were not truly census officials, she declined to let them inside. They proceeded to enter with force, breaking the door to gain access to her house. They physically abused her by chocking her to restrain her pleas for help. One after the other, the men raped her and when leaving, stole her money.

Neighbors later discovered the victim reeling in pain and rushed her to the Suba Sub County hospital. Afterwards, she was transferred to the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital. The County police Commander in the area shared that so far they have arrested three suspects linked to the crime.

“We cannot let suspects who have committed the heinous act to go without legal action. They will be arraigned in court to face charges,” said the county police commander Cheruiyot. As the census enumeration still continues, all citizens are urged to report any cases of wrongdoing to the nearby authorities.
