Cheating Helped Me Learn A Lot of Lessons About Faithfulness – Singer Eric Wainaina Spills

Remember Eric Wainaina’s cheating scandal? Well let me remind you. Nearly 10 years ago, the renown singer had an affair with Valerie Kimani, a contestant at Tusker Project Fame where Eric was a judge. The affair which blew up the internet brought forth a child and for a while, the singer’s career and marriage to wife Sheba Hirst was on the line.

A day ago, Eric Wainaina shared with the Sunday Standard a recollection of his past mistakes and lessons. In the interview, he said that if he could undo one thing in his life, it would be cheating on his wife with Valerie. He wished that he’d saved both their families the pain that his unfaithfulness has brought.

“I learnt a lot of lessons about faithfulness. We live in a society where men have been raised to imagine that it is okay to have multiple partners and that your friends will keep your secrets for you. You can dog your wife in the company of your best friend there. And when your wife calls him when seated right there with you, he will for sure come up with an excuse for you. Something like…’Oh Eric just stepped out..’ I told my friends I don’t need that from them and I don’t want to be their excuse either. Don’t get your girlfriend to call me and ask whether we were with you. I will say nope, I was not,” said Eric.

In the interview, the singer said that despite hating the fact that his affair went public, he owned it and did not deny the affair to the press. He also shared that his relationship with Sheba was very bad in the wake of the affair but that’s in the past. Currently, the singer is happy raising his two kids with his wife and celebrating the launch of his new album ‘Dreams in Stereo’
