Sarkodie Ignored My Invitation To Be On My Documentary- Obrafour Reveals

Yesterday, the question on our minds and indeed on the minds of most Ghanaian music industry players was whether Sarkodie snubbed Obrafour’s ‘Pae Mu Ka’ documentary.

It had emerged after sighting the documentary that Sarkodie was starkly missing from it although many music icons and celebrated personalities were featured.

As we sought answers to what might have happened for Sarkodie’s absence in the ‘Pae Mu Ka’ documentary, the veteran rapper, Obrafuor, himself has spoken.

Obrafour revealed that his several attempts to feature Sarkodie on his Pae Mu Ka documentary proved futile.

The Pae Mu Ka documentary is in commemoration of the 20th  anniversary since the release of the Pae Mu Ka album.

It is no doubt that Obrafour has been the mentor of several new age rappers, so it only normal to invite them to be on the documentary.

According Obrafour he extended invitations to Sarkodie, Tic Tac, Hammer, M.anifest and several others to be present for the shoot of the documentary. Sarkodie however failed to be present on set despite several attempts to bring him on board.

Narrating how Sarkodie had constantly failed to be on the documentary he said:

Me and Sark, you know I have said time and again that at any given period when it comes to him, i’m totally bias towards him. So as to why, how, it will be difficult to say anything concrete, it is what it is, he just didn’t show up. Up till date he has not showed up, he had assured that he would be there but he has not been able to come through, and now we’ve wrapped up the shoot”.

Obrafour however added that Sarkodie was on of the key figures in Pae Mu Ka anniversary project, he said;

From day one, Sarkodie was at the launch so definitely you will expect him to be at the concert, I am not writing anybody off at the moment but I’m praying that probably whatever it is that is hindering him God will take it away and he will be able to come through. He knows about all the events leading to my 20th Years Anniversary and so i just don’t know why he’s doing this, i’ve reached out to him several times but still.”

Obrafour’s great influence on the hiplife genre on Ghana is undoubtedly huge. He is credited for making the genre popular after it was pioneered by fellow veteran, Reggie Rockstone.
