Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, who is professionally known in the internationally as Nicki Minaj, is an American rapper and pop-singer. 

Jelani Maraj who happens to be the brother of the diva is in hot waters as he has been sentenced for 25-years after a court in New York found him guilty of repeatedly raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter while her mother was away for continuously one week.

Jelani was found guilty of ‘predatory sexual assault against a child and endangering the welfare of a child’ in 2017 and on Monday, Nassau County Supreme Court Judge, Robert McDonald, refused to give him a soft sentence.

Nicki Minaj who refers to her brother as her ‘heart’ had written a ‘nice’ letter to the judge when the issue was dragged to the court in a bid to have her brother’s sentence reduced, the judge was adamant and handed the tough judgement.

He pleased on the court to reduce the number of years since he had an alcohol problem and asked for a “second chance.” As one of his attorneys said he suffered from health issues including hypertension, gout and anaemia and requested the minimum sentence of a decade.
