Good News: Suspected Cases Of Coronavirus In Ghana Test Negative

Test results for the two suspected coronavirus cases in Ghana have come out negative, according to medical reports.

Senior Researcher at Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Dr Kofi Bonney, confirmed to TV3 on Thursday afternoon.

Dr Kofi Bonney said two different tests (Most sensitive and Complementary tests) were conducted on samples of blood from the foreign nationals all proved negative.

He stated, “We finished about an hour ago and it came out negative.”

BACKGROUND

A Chinese and an Argentine reported themselves to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Yesterday and was quarantined after they showed symptoms of coronavirus.

Samples of their blood was sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research awaiting further analysis today.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the coronavirus as a national threat and has advised countries to put measures in place to prevent the spread of the virus.
