Video: Being A Single Mum Almost Got Me Depressed – Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian screen goddess, Yvonne Nelson has narrated the daily challenges she goes through as a single mother.

According to the astounding actress, joggling her career, education and taking care of her daughter is a tough task that almost got her depressed.

“It’s been hard” Yvonne told Nana Ama McBrown. “It got to a point that depression almost set in” she said in twi. “You gain so much weight and I do parenting all by myself because the father is not here so as a woman, it has been very tough on me.”

“I started school, I was still shooting movies so combining everything was tough. Sometimes I cry at night, when she’s sick and we take her to the hospital. It has been crazy.”

When asked if she intentionally planned to have a child with Jamie Roberts because he is white, Yvonne Nelson said she was blinded by the character Jamie portrayed.

“I didn’t plan to give birth to a white baby. Everything was right when I met the father. He had babies already and I saw the kind of relationship he had with his babies.”
