Social media users have backlash one renowned man of God, Rev Lawrence Tetteh for his comments on the construction of the National Cathedral in Accra, Ghana in course the of sod cutting ceremony by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo today March 5, 2020.

The National Cathedral of Ghana is a planned interdenominational Christian cathedral scheduled to be built in Accra, the nation’s capital, as part of Ghana’s 60th anniversary celebrations. The design for the cathedral was unveiled by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, in March 2018.

The building of the National Cathedral generated controversy among various religious bodies across the country as other social commentators also criticised it to be needless since it has no significance.

According to the clergyman, the construction of the National Cathedral is so important that, everything possible must be done to see it done.

He added that, it will not cost anything even if houses are been demolished for its construction.

He said:

“As for me building a National Cathedral is just as building, a house of God so it doesn’t matter whether you belong to the NPP or the NDC or any other political party. Building a Cathedral is the most important, people have questioned why we are breaking buildings, even if we can break the whole of Accra and use it to build the house of God so be it.”
