Former Serbian Footballer Commits Suicide After Saying “I Can’t Take This Anymore”

Miljan Mrdakovic, a former Serbian player has reportedly shot himself in the head at the age of 38 after battling anxiety and depression.

The incident happened in his rented Belgrade apartment over the weekend after he reportedly said “I can’t take this anymore”.

His partner, Ivana Stanic called the emergency services, who came to meet the former footballer dead. She told local media that, “He could have killed himself the night before. He was drunk and that had a big effect on him.

“I took the bag with the gun away from him. I told him that he has a son who loves him a lot, and people who love him too.

“He was depressed and anxious in the last period. He behaved like he was struggling with something, but I don’t know what.

“His son lived with us for a period. We had plans for the future and now he is gone. I can’t go back to the apartment, I will take my stuff from there, but I can’t go there yet.”

Stanic also posted a photo on social media of the striker with the caption: “Sleep tight, my love.”

Mrdakovic played for twenty clubs across 10 countries including Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal and Maccabi Tel Aviv in Isreal. He also played nine matches with Serbia U21s and three times for Serbia at the 2008 Olympics.
