Doctor And Son Killed By Kidnappers After His Family Paid Heavy Ransom

Two suspects have been arrested by the Nigerian police for the gruesome murder of a medical doctor alongside his son and a friend.

The 70-year old Abuja-based Dr. Benedict Audu and the two others were killed by a criminal gang after their family paid a whopping 7.5 million naira as ransom.

Mr Audi had travelled with the intention of meeting a friend in Katsina-Ala, Benue State, before proceeding to Abuja but the aim was cut short by the abductors.

On Monday evening, the police paraded two of the suspects in connection with the abduction and subsequent killing of the trio.

The suspects Henry Terkula Gwa, 25 and Terhile Tsavbe, 30 were arrested on the 6th and 11th June, 2020 respectively at different locations.

Police investigations revealed that the criminal gang collected 7.5 million naira as ransom from the family of the victims as condition for their release.

The suspects also forced the deceased doctor to sign a 500,000 naira cheque which was successfully cleared at the bank.

The gang then killed all the three abductees and buried them in shallow graves. They then discarded the phone through which they communicated with the murdered trio family.

The police have since began stringent investigations to arrest the other members of the group who are still at large.
