Widow Narrates How Policeman Arrested And Raped Her For Not Wearing Face Mask

The River State Police Command in Nigeria has been charged by a human rights activist, Prince Wiro, to investigate its operatives accused of arresting and raping a widow.

A widow,32, alleged that some policemen at the Sakpenwa Police Division, Tai Local Government Area, on Tuesday July 28, arrested her for not wearing face mask and took her to a guest house where one officer raped her at gunpoint.

She said,
“I was returning from Bori to Port Harcourt when I met some police officers at a checkpoint. They arrested me for not wearing nose mask. They kept me long there with them.

“Thereafter they carried me from one place to the other, claiming they want to take me to the police station but never took me to any police station.

“After some time, they took me to a guest house where one of them raped me till dawn. His name is Inspector Peter Iba of Sakpenwa Police Station.”

Wiro, is therefore charging the police command to open an immidiate investigation into the alleged rape of the widow by officers.

The Police command has also reacted to the news saying they invited the lady to hear her side of the story and write a statement adding that investigation has commenced.
