Two Policemen Drown While Chasing Wee Smokers
Two recently recruited officers of the Nigerian Police Force met their untimely death after they got drowned in a pond while chasing some marijuana smokers in the precincts of the Durbar Police station in Oyo State, south-western Nigeria.
Oparemi Goke and Ogunyemi Mujeeb together with a member of the Discipline Intelligent Group of Nigeria (DIGON) had stormed the ghetto of some hoodlums to make an arrest in the evening.
The hoodlums sensing danger took to their heels. The policemen kept pursuit joining one of the hoodlums who had jumped into the pond.
Unfortunately they could come out of the pond which had increased in volume due to recent heavy rainfall. They drowned in it before any rescue could be made.
