Nana Agradaa, Empress Gifty Battle in Court on First Day of Defamation Case

The defamation court case between gospel musician Empress Gifty and priestess-turned-evangelist Nana Agradaa kicked off at the Tema High Court on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Empress Gifty and Nana Agradaa made their maiden court appearances, with both women arriving at the court premises accompanied by their spouses.

Nana Agradaa and her junior pastor-husband, Angel Asiamah, arrived at the court premises in Tema together. The gospel singer was accompanied by controversial politician Hopeson Adorye.

The long awaited legal battle between the two women was quickly settled as the case was adjourned.

According to Empress Gifty’s lawyer, Agradaa’s legal team has filed an application for the case to be dismissed.

Speaking after the legal proceedings, he outlined their arguments to the judge.

He said Agradaa’s team argued that her allegations did not constitute defamation.

They therefore prayed the court to throw out the case.

Empress Gifty sued Nana Agradaa for defamation of character after she accused her of infidelity.

Agradaa claimed that Empress Gifty had multiple affairs with pastors and other men.

She said Empress raised money to take care of herself and her husband, Hopeson Adorye, by engaging in these activities.

Empress fired back by suing for GHS 20 million at the High Court in Tema.

She described Agradaa’s claim as defamatory and injurious to her reputation.

Nana Agradaa attacked Empress Gifty after her husband, Hopeson Adorye, targeted her in an interview.

The controversial former NPP politician implored NDC supporters to target Nana Agradaa and assault her if she attempted to step into the office of Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod).

Agradaa had hinted that she planned to return the controversial $800 gift she received from Gyamfi, triggering Adorye’s outburst.

His call for Agradaa to be assaulted angered the controversial preacher, who responded by targeting her ire at Adorye’s wife, Empress Gifty.
