Kobby GH and Yaa Baby Saga: Details of Ghanaian Blogger Who Shot and Killed Girlfriend

A Ghanaian TikTok/Snapchat influencer identified as Kobby GH was arrested for accidentally shooting and killing his girlfriend, identified as Yaa Baby.

Kobby was arrested on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.

He reportedly discharged a pump-action firearm accidentally which struck the arm of his girlfriend, mortally wounding her.

She was transported to the St. Martin’s Hospital, where she died.

Details of Kobby GH shooting

According to reports, the Snapchat influencer, real name Hayford Boateng, attended the Mamponhene’s funeral with his girlfriend, Philipa Frimpong, also known as Yaa Baby.

The two were accompanied by two other friends, Kojo Emmanuel and Michael Kabutey.

After they left the funeral, Kobby GH and his team drove up to Yeji to visit a community he had previously stayed in.

While there, an incident occurred that led Hayford to bring out his pump-action firearm.

Reports claim he wanted to fire warning shots but ended up shooting his girlfriend in the arm/chest area.

An eyewitness’s account

An Okada rider who witnessed the shooting said the couple and their friends stopped in Yeji to buy some meat, but the shop had run out of stock.

One gentleman, presumably Kobby GH, retrieved a firearm from his car at that juncture for an unknown reason.

When questioned, he said he owned the gun for security reasons becase the roads are not safe.

The Okada rider said he begged Kobby, who appeared drunk, to put the gun away, but he insisted it was safe as it was unloaded.

He then pulled out some gun pelllets and loaded the gun, intent to demonstrate its safety.

The gun accidentally discharged at that juncture, leading to Yaa Baby’s death.

Family speaks

Yaa Baby’s family were heavily hit by news of her death and mourned her passing in several videos that have surfaced online.

Her family members expressed a belief that she was deliberately shot by Kobby GH for ritual purposes.

Yaa Baby, only 21, completed senior high school in recent years and left home to stay on her own.

She is reportedly her mother’s only child.
