A former bank manager will be spending the next 11 months in jail after he was found guilty of fraud by a high court sitting in Awka, Anambra State.

Jonathan Nnamdi Udemadu, the former boss of Achina Microfinance Bank as prosecuted by the Enugu Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was charged with nine-counts abuse of office, forgery, issuance of dud cheque, and fraudulent conversion of depositors fund to the tune of ₦66,633,000.

The bank had lodged a complaint with the EFCC, alleging that the defendant, granted huge sums of money to dubious companies without any collateral or the explicit consent of the board.

The judge also ordered the convict to restitute the money in contention back to the bank or face forfeiture of his properties.

Fraud case against Olalekan Ponle a.k.a Mr Woodberry, has been dismissed by a United States Court.

Mr Woodberry was arrested in June, alongside Ramon Abbas famed as Hushpuppi, over a multi million dollar wire fraud.

Woodberry was accused of tricking a Chicago company into sending wire transfers totaling $15.2 million and was extradited to the US on July 2nd.

A jury, at a United States District Court in Illinois, summed up the allegations against him to an eight-count charge of wire fraud, which violates section 1343 of the United States Codes.

However, the United States government on Monday July 20th filed a motion through its attorney John R. Lausch, requesting that the case against him be dismissed without prejudice.

A 60-year-old UK man identified as John Pomfrey has said he had no idea his wife, Christiana was faking blindness for 15 years just to scam £1 Million in benefits.

Christiana, 65-years, lied that she was totally blind and wheelchair-bound but she was caught by surveillance driving, going for a walk unaided while reading a newspaper and collecting her grandchildren from school.

On Monday, she was jailed for three years and eight months after pleading guilty to multiple counts of fraud, false accounting and making or supplying articles for use in frauds.

Her husband, Mr Pomfrey denied fact that he was aware of his wives lies.

“People think I must have known what she was up to and where all the money went, but the answer to both is I don’t have a clue. She has destroyed my life and I cannot forgive her. She is the craftiest woman I have ever known.” He told Daily Mail.

Christiana confessed she had spent cash on numerous holidays, cosmetic treatment and clothes and given some of the money away to charity and those in need.

Twitter’s very own motivational speaker and advocate, Reno Omokri has taken a swipe at people slide lining corrupt politicians to lambast Hushpuppi for a similar crime.

Reno Omokri said in an elaborate post that Hushpuppi was convicted for scamming 1.9million people but Nigerian politicians like Bola Tiinubu has scammed the whole of Nigeria.

He quizzed how a bullion van can be sen on the compound of a politician at the blind side of state security but the nation will attack Hushpuppi for the same crime.

He took to social media to write that: “If you condemn Hushpuppy, but not Bola @AsiwajuTinubu, you are a hypocrite. Hush scammed 1.9 million people. How many Lagosians has Tinubu scammed? Bullion vans entered Tinubu’s home on the eve of 2015 election. Whose money was that?”
