The Kaduna State government has lifted the curfew imposed on the 23 local government areas in the State.

This announcement was made via the official handle of the Kaduna State government on Twitter.

The tweet reads:”KADUNA UPDATE: KDSG has lifted the curfew in all the 23 LGAs in the state, with effect from tonight”

The various States in Nigeria were under a dusk to Dawn curfew following the youths protest against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the police force for their brutalities against civilians.

The Kaduna Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has launched an operation to clamp down on betting centers that are operating within the state without proper certification.

They have so far shut down most shops belonging to Bet9ja and others citing non-registration as a reason. Head of Gaming at KADRIS Liye Anthony disclosed this to journalists in an interview.

In his words, the operation begun on Thursday and they have so far closed five offices each of Bet9ja and King Bet, two Access Bet offices and one office of Derby Lotto.

The Tax Codification and Consolidation Law, 2020, of the Kaduna State has mandated gaming companies to register and obtain a license before operating in the state.

Some sections of the law states that gaming companies that wish to operate in the State need to pay a nonrefundable fee of N400,000 registration fee after which they should apply in writing for an operating license.

According to Anthony, Kaduna Stated has about 1,500 gaming offices operating illegally without registration and license. He noted that the exercise will continue until they rid the State of all illega betting companies.

He said: “We will continue to go after them until all the operators of the gaming companies regularised their operations and obtained the needed license to operate in the state.”

Eighteen guests at a wedding reception in Kaduna State, north-western Nigeria have been shot dead by unknown assailants as they danced at a wedding reception. The attack also left more than 30 others injured.

The attack occured on Sunday night in the village of Kukun-Daji in the Kaura area of Kaduna. Jonathan Asake, a local leader in the community revealed the attack happened while the guests danced to loud music.

Fifteen people died on the spot while three succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. However the newly wedded couple escaped unscathed. The attackers fled immediately after their dastard act.

Muhammad Jalinge, the state’s police spokesperson confirmed the unfortunate incident. He added that investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetuators to book.

The northern part of Nigeria has suffered a string of deadly attacks that have left hundreds dead. This attack is been blamed on armed bandits who have been rustling cattle.

On Saturday, more than 15 military personnel were killed in an operation inside a forest being used by criminals to perpetuate their barbaric acts.

Kaduna lawmakers engaged in a dirty fight shortly after impeaching the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly and swearing-in a new one.

According to reports, Hon. Liman Dahiru representing Makera Constituency broke into the floor of the Assembly and seized the mace while trying to leave the complex.

Before he could leave the complex, Sergeant at Arm grabbed Hon. Liman Dahiru while other members quickly rushed in to retrieve the mace from him and it quickly erupted into a fight.

The Nation report that Hon. Liman Dahiru was seen later with a torn cloth outside the Assembly Chamber, expressing his anger over the impeachment of Hazo.

Hundreds of children allegedly chained, tortured and sexually assaulted at an Islamic school in Nigerian state of Kaduna have been sharing their horrific stories.

Police last week freed over 500 children, some as young as five before taking them into protective custody.

On Sunday police confirmed that the children have now been handed over to the Kaduna State Government for a reunion with their families.

According to officials the building where the kids were kept was raided after a tip-off about suspicious activity. Police described the facility as a “house of torture” and a place of human slavery.

Some of the children have now been sharing their stories living in such a treacherous facility with the media.

One boy narrated that he was hung up by his arms until bones in his shoulders broke when he tried escaping at a point in time.

Another victim said “They used car engine belts and electrical cables to flog us.”

The 15-year-old was quoted as saying that “Teachers used to sexually harass us … They tried to loosen my pants once but I fought them off and was beaten.”

“They beat us everywhere in the house, even in the mosque. If you asked to speak with your family, they would shackle you.”

Another boy revealed that “the teachers and prefects raped boys. Those who were sexually molested were enticed with canned fish. Those of us who refused were caned. They used planks of wood to beat us.”

Over the weekend parents of some of these children protested against their release.

Although the children freed were happy, their parents are not as they back the activities of the Islamic school.

Mostly women, parents of these children protested openly, backing the operators of the school and their methods.

The agitated parents claimed the allegation by the police that their children were being sexually abused at the Islamic school was false.

Some of the mothers said there was nothing wrong with the Islamic school and questioned the decision of the police to raid the facility.

The school reportedly charged parents fees of 35,000 naira ($114) a term. Eight suspects have been arrested to assist with investigations.
