A mother of four who was arrested about a week ago has opened up for the first time after her release.

The distraught mother revealed she was arrested when she was going to buy food to feed her hungry children. She added that she was not aware that there was a curfew in town.

She alleged that she, together with some other women who were arrested were tortured in the police custody for the past six days.

She spoke with a reporter from The Punch and showed the money she was going to use for the food stuffs as a prove. Watch the video below.

The Lagos State Governor, Jide Sanwo-Olu has suspended the executive director of the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, Bamidele Balogun over an illegal 5% Levy he imposed on all audio and visual content streamed on all phyical and digital platforms around Lagos.

There were earlier reports by LIB, that the executive secretary had issued letters to the management of Iroko TV demanding the payment of the 5% levy on all audio and video contents produced, marketed, streamed and downloaded within Lagos.

The Lagos State commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho later dismissed the content of such letters saying that, they have not instructed the executive secretary to do that.

He added that, the office of the State Governor is not oblivious of the hardships imposed on the creative industry and all other sectors of the economy by the global Covid-19 pandemic, and will not be that insensitive towards the creative industry players.

A statement from the office of the State Governor reads in bits: “There is no levy on audio and visual contents of all physical and digital platforms in Lagos State. The Executive Secretary, Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, Mr. Bamidele Balogun, is said to have announced a five per cent levy.”

“The government hereby dissociates itself from the said announcement in the media. The Executive Secretary, who was not authorised to make such an announcement, has been suspended, pending an administrative enquiry.”

A 32 year old man who was part of the recently evacuated Nigerians from Dubai has succumbed to the coronavirus disease.

Prof. Akin Abayomi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, made this known this evening via his Twitter handle.

He also added that the deceased had an undisclosed health condition which exacerbated his situation culminating in his demise.

The Nigerian government last week evacuated some 256 citizens from Dubai, United Arab Emirates as part of efforts to shield it’s citizens from the disease.

Upon arrival on May 6th, they were sent to isolation centres in Lagos for the mandatory 2 weeks quarantine.

The south-western state has confirmed 1,933 coronavirus cases with 502 recoveries and 33 deaths.
