The Cable News Network Inc, CNN has declined invitation to appear before the Lagos judicial panel that is looking into the Lekki toll gate excesses.

The American media house conducted an investigation into the shooting incident that happened at the Lekki toll gate and concluded that soldiers actually shot live bullets at protesters.

Their investigations also found out the origin of those bullets that were used to shoot the protesters.

Nigerian government didn’t take it lightly after they premiered their investigative piece.

They were subsequently invited to appear before the judicial panel to prove their findings.

Through their lawyer, they have declined the invitation saying that they don’t operate within Nigeria and the panel has no right to summon them.

Their letter reads in parts; “Since the Objectors are not “persons in Nigeria” as envisaged by the provision of section 5(c) (of Tribunals Of Inquiry Law Of Lagos State, Cap. T6), then this Honourable Tribunal is, with respect, bereft of territorial jurisdiction to compel their attendance to give evidence before it.”

A protester at the just ended End SARS protest has made an indelible tattoo on his chest to keep him reminded of what happened at the Lekki toll gate last month.

Today marks exactly one month since the unfortunate incident happened at the Lekki toll gate.

The protester identified as Uyi was part of other protesters who converged at the Lekki toll gate to drum home their message.

They were shot at by the security operatives killing scores of them in the process.

Uyi took to his Instagram page and shared a photo of his tattoo with the caption: ”Exactly one month today our government is still lying about the innocent protesters they killed at LEKKI TOLL GATE!!!! Who Gave The ORDER? #endsars#endbadgovernmentinnigeria #fuckthepolicians #wewantjustice #themarathoncontinues”.

On the unfortunate night of 20th October, 2020, the youth of Nigeria gathered at the Lekki toll gate to press home their demands for the dissolution of SARS and an end to police brutality.

The incident drew international attention to Nigeria and CNN commenced an independent investigation into the matter.

Lawyer, Dele Farotimi has accused the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the security forces and LCC of not interested in uncovering the truth regarding the Lekki toll gate shooting incident that happened last month.

Protesters who were gathered at the Lekki toll gate to protest were shot at and killed on the 20th of October, 2020.

A judicial panel was set up by the Lagos State government to investigate the excesses on that unfortunate night.

In an interview with Arise News, the lawyer, Dele Farotimi accused the parties accused in the Lekki toll gate shooting incident of trying to cover the truth.

Below is an excerpt of what he said during the interview.

”The Lagos state government does not dare to allow the panel that is currently sitting in Lekki to sit neither does the Nigerian government or the Nigerians Army…They might pretend they are intesrested in finding the truth, I guarantee you and I tripple .0dare them to allow panel to sit.

Their ongoing shenanigans to ensure the panel is truncated, them finding all of a sudden that people who are funding peacefulprotest are terrorists.

It is designed to ensure that the youth representatives on that panel walks away. It is an act of provocation. Nobody sits down to negotiate with a man who has a gun on the table.

I am saying here and now that the Lgaos state government, Jide Sanwo-Olu, the LCC, the Nigerian Army and everybody connected there have no interest in uncovering the truth of what happened in Lekki.

The concerted efforts are the lies, the many aristotelian dimension to the madness they are calling investigation,” Farotimi said.

Nigerian author, lawyer and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has suggested that he’s ready to supply the judicial panel investigating the excesses in the Lekki toll gate shooting incident with videos of the shooting.

Lekki Concession Company (LCC), the managers of the toll gate during their appearance before the panel stated that, the cameras at the toll gate stopped working around 8:00 PM.

Reno Omokri is challenging this information put before the judicial panel by LCC Managing Director, Abayomi Omomuwa by providing the sequence of events on that unfortunate night.

He stated that the shooting started at 6:42PM on the 20th of October, 2020 and so their videos should include the shooting else it’s doctored. He added that he’s ready to provide video evidence of the shooting if the LCC fail to provide some.

He tweeted: “If the LCC says their cameras stopped recording at 8PM on October 20, then it should still have captured the shooting, because it started at 6:42PM. If their videos does not capture it, it is not genuine and we are ready to provide the Panel with genuine videos of #LekkiMassacre”
