Nigerian musician, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo popularly called D’banj has now gotten a sigh of relief after his alleged rape victim, Seyitan Babatayo dropped her charges against him.

The 40 year old singer was accused in early June by the lady of a rape which occurred some two years ago after she attended a party organised by the musician and his management team.

She alleged that D’banj came into her hotel room to forcibly had sex with her using a key sourced from the hotel staff.

She decided to voice out her story after the country was rocked by a series of rape allegations against popular entertainers among others.

This spiralled into several developments with a group of lawyers calling for D’banj prosecution while the Fall in Love crooner also sued his accuser to redeem his bruised image.

In a statement released to announce her decision to drop the charges, Seyitan Babatayo thanked all those who supported her.

She also revealed that her family was the side that reached out to D’banj’s and not the other way round as the psychological impact was too much for her.

Versatile Nigerian musician D’banj has been trending in the news for the past several weeks on the wrong reasons. This was after s middle-aged woman early last June accused him of rape.

Seyitan Babatayo came on social media to tell the world that she was raped by the 4year old musician whose real name is Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo.

After several back-and-forths in the rape allegations, D’banj decided to sue his accuser for defamation of character and demanded a whopping 1.5 million naira ($3.8m) as compensation.

Now the musician has revealed what he intends to use his money for should he win the law suit against his rape accuser.

In a response to a fan’s video in which the musician stopped performing on stage to rescue a lady been harassed by some men, D’banj revealed his intentions.

The musician promised that he will use the money to help real rape victims who needed the money than he does.

He also took a swipe at so-called feminists whose penchant for greed and free NGO funding makes them to ignore facts and just jump in to damage people’s reputation they have built for years.

Award-winning Nigerian musician, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known by his stage name, D’banj has sued Seyitan Babatayo, the lady at the centre of his ongoing rape controversy.

The singer is requesting the court to grant his reliefs which includes a billion naira for general damages and an additional 500 million naira for punitive damages.

The whole controversy began after Seyitan Babatayo went on social media in early June to call out D’banj for raping her in a hotel room after a party two years ago.

The allegation spiralled into many more controversies as there were several posts from both camps with the singer debunking the rape allegation against him.

Court papers available to AfricaCelebrities.com showed how serious the “Fall in Love” crooner is to have his dented image restored.

The suit read in part:

An order directing the defendant to pay the claimant, the sum of N 1,000,000,000.00 (One Billion Naira) only, representing general damages over the untold embarrassment, derision, public ridicule, odium, oloquy, marital disharmony, mental agony and psychological trauma which the defendant’s tweets and publication have caused the claimant.”

The fallout of the allegation has seen several outcomes against the musician. The Nigerian police boss, Mohammed Adamu has ordered his men to probe allegations of unlawful arrest and detention of Seyitan Babatayo.

A group of human right lawyers have also demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the music icon.

The head of the Nigerian police, Mohammed Adamu has instructed his men to begin investigations into circumstances that led to the arrest of Seyitan Babatayo, the lady at the centre of the D’banj rape allegation.

The IGP’s order came on the heels of an official petition lodged by lawyers of the alleged rape victim, Ojoge, Omileye and Partners.

The lawyers had written to the police chief to prove how their client was arrested and forced to delete all her posts which made allegations against the celebrated Nigerian musician.

The petition had alleged that policemen attached to the Intelligence Response Team arrested Seyitan Babatayo on the orders of D’Banj and detained her for more than a day.

It was also alleged that they denied her access to her phone and her lawyers and was subjected to intimidation and psychological torture by the policemen.

The lawyers added that the arrest which occured two weeks ago was done without any court-issued warrant and the victim was forcefully taken with her friend without being told their offence.

The petition read in part:

“According to our client, she was told to write a statement denying ever meeting with Mr. Oyebanjo (D’Banj) and to also state that she lied against the person of Mr. Oyebanjo. In actual fact, our client was about to write the statement which she believed would be a basis for her release when the counsel came in and stopped her from writing such a statement.

The petition also added that Seyitan Babatayo was forced to recant her allegations and delete all social media posts she had made about D’Banj.

The Fall in Love crooner whose real name is Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo stands accused of rape which the victim alleged occurred in late 2018 after she attended a party organised by the musician.

Embattled Nigerian music act, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known in the showbiz circle as D’banj, has been invited by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, over rape allegations charge made by Seyitan Babatayo.

The award-winning star was examined by an Associate Magistrate of Police, Adaku Anya, at the Power Criminal Examination Office, Garki, Abuja.

The news further added that Seyitan Babatayo was additionally welcomed for addressing however argued that she was unable to stand to venture out to Abuja, so she was invited by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Alagbon, Ikoyi.

Seyitan appealed with us that she had no means of travelling down to Abuja. So, she has been given the option of reporting at the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi,”
